Part 4 - Scene 3

They hadn’t seen anyone with bad intent use Magic to see if there were any changes or not. There wasn’t any point in him admitting his fault and lack of knowledge to Jordon though. It didn’t look to be that important to admit he might have just fibbed. There was always a fifty percent chance he could be right and he was hoping his words fell into that chance to be accurate and actually true.

Minutes ticked by slowly till finally as Areon was making his second time around the hexagon he saw some flames start to rise and wave back and forth almost as if they were dancing. A soft smile tugged and took its place on the Elder of Magic’s face and eyes closed some, looking pleased to see Jordon was able to find one trail of Magic. The Mage didn’t speak, wearing an outfit of light sky blue with short sleeves, paired nicely with light colored pants and flat shoes also a light or neutral color. He felt tempted to speak but held his tongue not wishing to break Jordon’s focus, letting his soft steps be the only thing echoing besides their breathing and beating hearts.

The flames slowly rose higher collecting and curling into the form of a sphere the more Jordon focused with beads of sweat starting to form and slip slowly down from his brow, dripping off his jaw. Fire was a difficult Element and some had complained of feeling the heat surging through their bodies as they focused on its Magic. Seeing Jordon sweat confirmed this to be plausible and how Pyrast in his past described how it felt to use Fire Magic to fit.

Why this was Areon wasn’t clear on nor was Pyrast it seemed. Pyrast theory on this matter was due to the heat fire carries with it naturally, unless used otherwise, is released through the body of the caster, making them feel the heat and experience through their entire body the Element they are using. Perhaps it was a system in the Magic to try and detour misuse. Whatever the cause it was not the first time Areon had seen someone sweat using Fire Magic or just during the summoning up the Element that wasn’t fully accustomed to it yet.

Finally as the orb had gotten bigger floating above the flames feeding it Areon cleared his throat causing the fire orb to crack a bit. “Calm yourself. Slowly release the Fire Element and thank it for allow you to draw upon it. Slowly, let it leave your body, feel it exit your being and return to its home in the fire pit.” Carefully and gradually the fire slowly began to unwind itself from the ball and feed back down into the fire pit below.

As the remaining flames faded back into the pit Areon had made his way behind the young man, eyes and body still at ease along with his voice. “Good work Jordon. Take a deep breath and release as you open your eyes and rise. You are still quite slow with your calling to the Elements yet are quite quick at using your Magic to reroute and control our Magic when it comes at you. Have you been doing your meditation as I instructed for the ten minutes before bed and when you wake?”

Jordon sighed, his eyes of emerald green opening as the air left his parted lips. It felt exhausting. All this training he was doing both mind and body felt as though he was getting nowhere when it came to drawing from the Elements directly from their source instead of using them after they came from a Mage. Separating his hands, his palms came to rest on his knees as his legs separated themselves as well and he stood with a small grunt leaving his throat. “Yes, Elder Mage Areon.

“I do the meditation every morning and every evening for ten minutes, sometimes twenty. I’m not sure why it takes me so long to draw on one Element from the pits yet takes so little time for me to use them after they have come from you or one of the other Elders of Magic. I’m not doing it on purpose I promise you that. Maybe I need more practice in another environment?

“Maybe if I left with one of you to somewhere else where the energy of Magic is freer and not so restricted and under rules might help me in my ability to feel the Element’s energy quicker?” Jordon suggested, not thinking anything would be wrong with this but Areon did. Turning to look at the approaching Jordon the suggestion that was made was a bad idea in Areon’s mind. The thought of letting Jordon out to focus and draw off the energy out in the open where there was no control and him being so egger or what looked like an eagerness to rush things, sat wrong with the Mage of Air.
