Amber stretched her arms above her head before twisting her body left then right, “this feels like the first fire elves trial.” She looked to Oin as she brought her arms down, “what do you think we’re facing?”

“No idea but if it follows the same rules, even if killing is allowed, we just need to incapacitate it and we win,” Oin answered as his neck cracked while he tilted his head from side to side. “Shouldn’t be too hard with my spells and your size.”

“Yea,” she nodded with a confident smile. “There isn’t anything we can’t do when we buff me up, hehe!”

Shortly after that, the ground lightly began trembling as a large beast came into view. It made its way to the battle grounds as it was lead on a chain by a silver scaled man. The closer it got, the clearer it became to see it stood about six foot five and its white wolf coat blew softly in the wind. It came to a stop inside the columns and stretched, displaying its fourteen feet from the tip of its tail to the tip of its snout. It lowered and snarled at the duo, displaying its sharp pearly white teeth. The scaled man removed the chain swiftly and dashed out of the combat zone.

Devion stood proudly beside the creature and stroked its soft side. “Magnificent, isn’t he?” he gave the beast a soft pat. “He did cost a good bit of coin but I think it was worth it,” he smirked as he drank in their shock at the beast. “Do you all like him? I named him Dragof...since it reflects both sides of him so well.”

“What do you mean by ‘both sides’,” Oin questioned sternly as his gaze moved from the beast to Devion.

“You’ll find out,” Devion glanced over towards the dark elf. “Sooner or later I would suspect,” he smirked as her gaze turned from the beast onto him with a glare of disgust. “Now then,” he returned his attention to the duo. “The rules are simple. There will be no magic allowed but natural skills are permitted.”

Amber gulped as Devion turned his attention to a shouting Kross. “I think we might be in trouble here,” she looked to Oin nervously.

Oin’s eyes narrowed on Devion before shifting to give Amber a reassuring look. “Don’t worry. We’ll get through this,” he cracked his knuckles as he looked back at Dragof who was still glaring them down. “We’ve gotten through fights before without using buffs and we will do it again.”

Amber nodded and took a breath. “Right! We can do this!” she looked at the snarling creature and swallowed with her throat slightly tightened. I hope, she thought.

Devion gave Dragof another pet. “Have fun and you may even have yourself a tiny little treat during the fight.” He looked to the dwarf before taking his leave outside of the columns. Once away, he turned and lifted one hand into the air. “Ready?” the duo took their stances. “Begin,” he shouted and simultaneously his hand glowed along with the pillars. Magic shot from one to another and another all the way around. A brief flash happened to indicate the transparent wall was complete.

Before Amber could transform Dragof roared loudly at the pair. Oin flinched as Amber shielded her face from its breath. She brought her head up after coughing. “You call that a roar? I’ll show you a real roar!” she moved and her body transformed, growing larger to eight feet in length. She released a mighty roar upon her transformation finishing with her wings spreading out wide.

Dragof flinched and kept his eyes on the golden dragon. Oin took this chance to move to the left and took up a defensive stance. Dragof charged forwards and spun, whipping his tail around. The appendage slid off Oin’s shield and lightly nicked Amber’s mouth as she lifted her head. She moved as swiftly as she could to try and bite down on the furred and spiked tail but just missed it.

Oin took this distraction as an opportunity to charge. Sadly as he did the beast briskly turned its attention to the dwarf and side stepped the bullrush. Taking this chance, Dragof moved and slashed at Oin’s back. The first claw hit which brought Oin to twist around and block the second strike. “Pick on someone your own size,” Amber growled with rage as she charged at Dragof. Her head lowered and she slammed it into his side, pushing him away from Oin.

Catching his breath and quickly measuring distance, the dwarf moved away from Amber and stomped a foot down hard to the ground. The ground shook and this caused the stunned creature to lose his footing and fall. Dragof tried to stand but fell as an angered Amber approached quickly with her maw open. He managed to move his neck so her snapping jaws caught some fur and air. Oin moved around and took this opportunity to take hold of one of its horns and punched it in the face.

Dragof shook his head free of the dwarf and stumbled as he moved away from the pair. He snarled as he worked to focus his courage. “Not so big and bad now are ya?” Amber approached and slashed him once with both front claws. He released a roar and reeled back which caused Oin’s punch to miss its target.

Shaking his head, Dragof took a low stance and began to charge energy in his mouth. He opened it and aimed it directly at Oin. A beam of white shot out, striking the dwarf’s shield and pushing him back from Amber. “Oin,” she roared as the beam ended and he stood still. He winced and his breathing grew heavy as a faint light began to outline his body. This light tried to engulf him but shattered like glass. “Oin! Are you okay?!”

Oin tried to catch his breath as his eyes slowly opened to watch the ground. He heard Amber’s fearful shouts but it took a little bit before he managed to nod. He turned his head up to look at her. “I’m fine Amber. Calm down,” he assured despite a sharp pain having just shot through his bones.

Amber snarled as she locked eyes with Dragof. “What did you just almost do to Oin,” she barked but instead of an answer, she got a throaty chuckle from the fused beast. “Fine then, don’t answer.” She stepped up and to the side with a twist to slam him with her tail. He moved his head out of the way with another rumble of laughter from his chest.

A little preview of Part 3 for I'm The Friend You Need. I thought I'd release a preview since it's taking a while due to me working on Endless, co-authoring Equestrian City, freelance clients when they contact me, Vol. 2 of short stories and a 3rd idea I had for a 3rd book in utilizing an idea I had that a client had inquired about but never gave them since they never started a contract for what they were talking about wanting.

Part 3 will be coming eventually so please be patient with my scattered focus.

I'm also aware of, when it comes to Parts 1 and 2, about what went down. It is kinda hard for someone to not know given the amount of it on YouTube. I have zero plans to remove the character from Parts 1 and 2 but in Part 3 the focus is on the fight happening in the battle grounds. Part 4 will show my way of resolving any lack of separating a character from its creator. I am glad no one has commented on the 1st 2 parts about one character as they had been done and posted by the date stamps before everything blew up. It makes me feel good that people are decent creatures and not everyone are a-holes ^-^
